WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF ASHVALE BEARDIES

Over 25 years ago, a love of dogs, and especially shaggy dogs would lead me to discover a breed that would change my life forever. A year or so after acquiring my first 2 Beardies, the show bug would bite, and there was no going back. Doing the local show circuit became part of my annual calendar, and visiting Beardies and their owners in many countries around the world, would mean that wonderful friendships were forged with others who are owned by this wonderful breed.

My first two Beardies were litter sisters; their pedigrees based on Brambledale lines; from here, my passion for the breed would result in me importing a number of dogs from all over the world, that would enhance and improve the “sound and sensible” lines I started with, and improve the breed as a whole, in South Africa.

Two decades later, two of these imports, specifically, have enjoyed wonderful show careers ; please visit Gatsby and Gabriel's pages for details about their illustrious achievements. Many breed champions have also been bred, and we are extremely proud of the achievements of all Ashvale Beardies.

As a founder member of the Bearded Collie Club and chairperson since its inception over a decade ago, and a qualified FCI Group 1 judge, it is safe to say that Beardies are an integral part of my life.
